Celebrate the centennial

Gibsons and District Public Library

This Friday, Oct. 17, the Gibsons and District Public Library will be a hub of activity in celebration of its Centennial Year.

All community members are invited to the library at noon to hear Mark Forsythe host CBC Radio’s Almanac live from the library. The show will explore the present and future of libraries, and the integral role libraries play in small communities like ours.

Later that same day, beginning at 7 p.m., an exciting crime writers’ forum will fill the library with intrigue and suspense as authors William Deverell, Gwen Southin, Robin Spano and Chevy Stevens take the floor with moderator Lonnie Propas.

“We wanted to mark this milestone with a full year of festivities,” said centennial committee chair Janet Genders. “[These events are] the culmination of our efforts to recognize this important anniversary.”
