A successful few weeks have propelled four wrestlers from Elphinstone Secondary to the provincial championships this weekend in Prince George.

Elphi started its string of success at the North Shore championships on Jan. 31.

The top finishers were Scout Stipec and Alex Ratcliff, second; and Alysha Monk, first. Alysha was also selected as the outstanding female wrestler in the tournament.

Last Friday, Feb. 21, the team wrestled in the North Shore/Vancouver Zone championships where the wrestlers qualified for the provincials.

The Cougars had eight wrestlers at the meet. Qualifying wrestlers and their finishing positions in their weight classes were, Nolan O'Reilly, second; Scout, second; Alex, second; and Alysha, first. The three girls finished second as a team.

As a team the athletes wrestled really well with some season best performances, said coach Clint Fox.
