Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden

To build the capacity of a local food system means improving markets for local foods, increasing awareness of local food issues, and ensuring equitable access to good food for all residents.

On Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden in West Sechelt there will be a community long table celebrating local food and bringing further awareness of activity of increasing food security and sustainability.

Target Marine Hatcheries will provide the main course as chef Aldo of Ruby Lake Resort grills the sturgeon to perfection. Green Planet Foods, which catered the Biodiversity Summit and sourced all food during the two-day event from local producers, will do the same to create dishes for this dining experience.

A no-host bar with Persephone Brewery on tap compliments of Side Stix and wine will also be available. A number of local speakers will provide insight into the possibilities that our community has that could assist in forming strategies for growth in our food system.

Tickets are just $49. See more at www.secheltrotary.ca
