The summer weaving workshop series is proving to be extremely popular, so the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives is continuing the series later this month.

On Saturday, Sept. 14 instructor Jessica Casey will give a workshop on how to weave a cedar journal cover.

On Saturday, Sept. 28 there will be another berry basket workshop. The workshops are one-day events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a registration fee of $85. No previous experience is necessary. To pre-register, contact the museum at 604-886-8232. The spaces fill up quickly so call now to reserve a spot.

Casey is a self-taught weaver of Coast Salish and Portuguese decent. She was born and raised in Egmont, but currently resides in Sechelt. Combining traditional Coast Salish construction and design with her own artistic vision, she creates beautiful baskets, hats and mats. Her creations can be found in numerous private collections worldwide and are now available in notable art galleries in the Lower Mainland.
