Special screening at St. Hilda’s Church

The Healing Circle

St. Hilda’s Anglican Church is hosting a Truth and Reconciliation event this Sunday, April 26 with a worship service, a potluck lunch, a screening of the documentary film The Healing Circle, and a dialogue circle.

This event is organized in anticipation of the release of the final report by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada in May. All community members are welcome.

The Healing Circle chronicles the courage, pain and spirituality of Indigenous Anglicans dealing with their relationship with the church and the impacts of residential schools on their communities. The screening will be followed by a dialogue circle led by Terry Aleck, one of the residential school survivors featured in the documentary.

During the worship service at 10 a.m., local residents and parishioners Nancy and John Denham will share their journey walking with our shíshálh neighbours through the Truth and Reconciliation process these past few years. A potluck lunch will follow the service. The screening will start at 1 p.m., followed by a dialogue circle. Participants are welcome to stay for the monthly Native drumming circle at 4 p.m.

St. Hilda’s Church is located at 5838 Barnacle Street in Sechelt beside Rockwood Centre. For more information, call Rev. Clarence Li at 604-993-0399.
