Miyo and Taho Shinagawa (aged 5 and 7) won first place in the nine and under category of the Sunshine Coast Astronomy Club’s Deep Sky Poster Contest – part of the Starlight Coast Star Party on Aug. 20, held at the Sunshine Coast Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada observatory. The sisters were awarded with their own telescope for their first place poster.
Runners up were Kianna Hamlin and Ryder Wood, both 9. Winners of the 10 to 18 category were Jessica Carroll, 14, Eva Starsage, 12, and Merriwether Morris, 15.
The Astronomy Club hosted 85 guests at the Starlight Coast Star Party.
