Sechelt Rotary goes to Hollywood

Oscars Eve Party

This Saturday, Feb. 21, the Trail Bay Mall in Sechelt will be transformed into the Oscars Eve Party for the second annual Rotary fundraising event.

All funds raised go to Sunshine Coast Hospice Society and West Sechelt Elementary School Playground Enhancement Project.

Oscars Eve is a fun event where attendees can come as themselves to party with celebrities or masquerade as the rich and famous, a movie star, royalty or a famous (or perhaps infamous) person.

There will be multiple photo ops on the red carpet. Starting at 7 p.m. attendees have the opportunity to get their photo taken with Marilyn Munro (Tanya Hall) and Bob Hope (Matt Morris), the evening’s MCs.

Additionally, participants can have their souvenir shot at the event. It is rumoured Mary Hart will take time out of her busy schedule to interview celebrities, famous and infamous Sunshine Coast people. Those not wishing to walk the red carpet can be part of Gawkers Row and try to guess the participants’ in-costume persona.

When the Gala doors open at 7:30 p.m., participants will partake of a tasting of the bubbly and Northern Divine caviar. Also available will be a variety of wines from B.C. paired with fine presentations of selected local food establishments. Alan James Revue will provide the live music, trailers for the nominated films will be showing on large screen TVs, and a silent art auction will be assembled.

The Oscar Eve Party buzz is all about the raffles, prizes and swag. One lucky participant will take home a West Jet raffle prize. There are prizes for costumes, Oscar ballots and door prizes. And everyone will be taking home an Oscars Eve Party bag with swag from the business community.

With tickets priced at $30, it is the best-valued gala event on the Sunshine Coast.

Purchase tickets at the Sechelt Visitors Centre, Wilson Creek Shell, Sechelt Rotary Club members, Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co., Laedeli or the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society. A bus to the event is scheduled for Gibsons attendees. To reserve your seat, email: gibsons.rotary@gmail.com
