Master Warrant Officer Alex Walton will represent Canada this summer competing in Bisley, England against the British Cadet Rifle Team.

Eighteen-year-old Master Warrant Officer Alex Walton from 2963 Seaforth Highlanders Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in Sechelt will have a well-deserved opportunity to represent Canada this summer while competing in Bisley, England against the British Cadet Rifle Team.

The Royal Canadian Army Cadets National Rifle Team (RCAC NRT) is an advanced training opportunity offered to senior cadets in the Canadian Cadet Program who have displayed dedication, knowledge, and perseverance at their local cadet unit and previous summer training courses, as well as gone through the rigorous team selection process.

Alex’s journey from a novice shooter to a seasoned Bisely candidate can be attributed to his involvement in the Cadet Program and membership of the 2963 Seaforth Highlanders, which has given him the opportunity to travel to different places and make friends around the world. Not only has Alex been awarded with the Lord Strathcona Medal of Excellence, four and five-year service medals, and top shot, but he has proudly earned a spot on the RCAC NRT of 2015.

He graduated this year from Chatelech Secondary School in Sechelt.

The cadet program is designed to develop strong citizenship and leadership qualities for youth aged 12 to 18. The program also aims to promote physical fitness, and stimulate interest in the activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.
