The Sunshine Coast Clean Air Society has conducted its annual general meeting and elected new and/or reappointed directors for the coming fiscal year.

Elizabeth McNeill is now president, Jeff Hoag (outgoing president) will perform the duties of secretary, and Valerie Thorsteinson and Louis Legal will share the role of treasurer. Ryan Logtenberg and Peter Wooding remain directors at-large and Jan Thorpe and Joe Harrison have joined the board as well.

Recent initiatives include the wood stove exchange program, air quality monitoring in Sechelt and Porpoise Bay, bylaw number 486, 2012 (developer/construction slash burning ban) and educational outreach, including our first Earth Day exhibit.

The society's funding comes largely from the province of British Columbia and the BC Lung Association, as well as the Sunshine Coast Regional District and the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation.

In the spirit of Clean Air Day this Wednesday, we are giving away a push mower through our Facebook page. Visit our website at www.cleanaironthecoast.com and like us to participate. See our News and Blog for 10 Easy Steps for Clean Air.
