The much-anticipated true East Coast style Lobster Fest this Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Sechelt Seniors' Activity Centre is one such opportunity.
More than 200 lobsters are being flown to the West Coast especially for this lip-smacking, roll-up-your-sleeves lobster feast complete with all the trimmings. There will be lots of entertainment, including live and silent auctions, which will feature paintings by local artists Motoko, Anne Willsie and Guzek. As well, there is a treasured limited edition print, inscribed cookbook and record album by Dinah Shore.
Lobster Fest attendees and bidders seeking adventure will be tantalized by exciting escapes and decadent getaways on the Sunshine Coast, Tofino and Hawaii. The opportunity for a private, festive dinner amidst the inviting, elegant and spectacular Christmas splendour of Linwood House will almost certainly draw enthusiasm.
And for this year's most festive fashions, Zocolo and Swish in Gibsons, as well as jewelry designer Kerri Luciani, are contributing generous gift certificates to the long list of silent auction items too numerous to list.
The promise of a purposeful, self-directed and more fulfilled future inspires women from far and wide for the unique experiences available at Linwood House.
This year, a culturally diverse group of women from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside were grateful to attend the presentation by Sally Armstrong at the Festival of the Written Arts, as part of their four-day experience hosted by Gwen McVicker, executive director at Linwood House.
In the more than 10 years that Linwood has offered such creative retreats, hundreds of lives have been changed. In writing workshops, art experiences and through personal sharing and revelation, Linwood visitors have consistently found new beginnings for their lives. These groups, led by professional writers, artists, counsellors and spiritual leaders, have attracted people from all walks of life, experiences and socio-economic ranks. Those who pay for the privilege of their experience also pay it forward in helping to fund the opportunity for others less fortunate.
