On Nov. 24, Lions International District Governor Jimmy Ho visited the Sunshine Coast (Sechelt) Lions Club.

He brought greetings from Lions International president Joe Preston and talked about some of the exciting projects that Lions Clubs are doing world-wide. He also thanked the Sechelt Club for all the work it does in and for the community and presented numerous awards to various members. A few of the projects the Club were thanked for included the annual Polar Bear Swim at Davis Bay, the Easter Egg Hunt at Porpoise Bay Park, the scholarship and bursary program at Chatelech Secondary School, the pancake breakfast on July 1 at Gilligan’s Pub, participation in providing food services at the drag races, mobility (scooter) program, and the weekly meat draws at Gilligan’s Pub.

Also in attendance at the dinner meeting were zone chairman Cliff Moss and Wendy Moss, both members of the Gibsons Lions Club. Club president Richard Grant officiated at the meeting.

Anyone interested in joining the Lions Club or coming out to a meeting to see what Lionism is all about is encouraged to contact secretary Jim Brookes at 604-885-3822 or see the website at: http://sclionsclub.com or their  Facebook page.
