Habitat hosts fundraising gala

Habitat Harvest

Saturday night, Nov. 22 is a night to help fundraise for a good cause — Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast.

Next Saturday at 5:30 p.m., Habitat presents its Habitat Harvest at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club in Roberts Creek. The benefit gala is in support of the Sunshine Coast Village project in Wilson Creek. With gourmet food and wine pairings, live music and two auctions, this banner evening sold out when it premiered in 2012.

Fundraising chair Phyllis Mooney is happy to relate that the Sunshine Coast Credit Union provided a kickoff donation, propelling her committee to pursue other community support — and that support is growing.

Sheena MacDonald’s spreadsheet reveals an array of donated support, including round-trip tickets from Harbour Air, an overnight stay at the Granville Island Hotel, art by the former governor general’s wife Lilly Schreyer, an iPad from Telus and a stocked wine fridge.

Bring your holiday gift lists, some cash or your credit card and be prepared for one of the most festive evenings on the Coast accented by the melodic music of Bits of String, generously donating their performance.

Tickets are $100, available at the ReStore in Sechelt or by contacting Phyllis at 604-740-0860. A $50 charitable tax receipt will be issued with each ticket and a ticket purchase entitles the holder to a chance for a fabulous door prize.
