Come and view the 28-foot Grampian sailboat that the Gibsons Yacht club has purchased for club members’ use.
The club is holding an open house at the Gibsons Marina, slip F5, on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon to view the sailboat.
Use of the boat is a bargain for interested or would-be sailors. For only $500 a year, a club member may use the boat. Yacht club membership is open to the public, and the club has a one-time sail price for new members.
It’s the first time the yacht club has purchased a club boat for members’ use.
“We think it’s very timely,” says club president Hugh Willson.
“There are a lot of former boat owners who don’t want the trouble of owning and maintaining a boat, but want to continue sailing.
“There are also people who want to sail occasionally. It’s an opportunity for people who don’t have enough money to buy a boat to enjoy sailing.”
