Free service for eligible low-income clients returns

Volunteers will prepare tax returns for free for eligible clients.

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program operates from March 1 to April 30. Volunteers will complete simple tax returns, free of charge, for low-income clients. Income limits: individual $30,000; couple/family $40,000 for two, plus $2,500 for each additional dependent. Couples are expected to provide complete tax information for both spouses.

The program does not serve clients with employment expenses, self-employment income, rental property income, or capital gains. Interest income must be less than $1,000. 

Two options are available: 

• Tax Clinics (taxes completed while you wait):

Sechelt Community Resource Centre, 5520 Trail Ave., Fridays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments: 604-229-2337. 

Sechelt Home Care Office, 5630 Inlet Ave., Mondays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments: 604-741-0726.

Sechelt Public Library, 5604 Trail Ave., Tuesdays noon to 5 p.m. Appointments: 604-885-3260.

Madeira Park Community School, 5012 Gonzales Road, Tuesdays 9 a.m. to noon. Appointments: 604-741-5132. 

Pender Harbour Health Centre, 5056 Francis Peninsula Road, Wednesdays 9 a.m. to noon. Appointments: 604-741-5132.

Gibsons Calvary Baptist Church, 711 Park Road, Thursdays, 10 p.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments: 604-886-2611.

Gibsons Public Library, 470 South Fletcher Road, Fridays noon to 5 p.m. Appointments: 604-886-2130. 

• Drop off your tax information and pick up completed tax returns:

Sechelt Home Care Office, 5630 Inlet Ave., Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
