Free beer and pizza

Persephone Brewing Company

This weekend, Sept. 13 and 14, Persephone Brewing Company will have their first major annual hops harvest. They are offering free beer and pizza to volunteers who will come and help.

Staff will be taking down the vines and bringing them to large picking tables where volunteers will hand-pick the cones. These will be used to brew a fresh-hopped India pale ale and the remainder dried to brew future batches.

This is a fun-filled community work party with a great atmosphere for the whole family. The Brothers (formerly Brothers in Farms) will offer live music both Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Bring a long-sleeved shirt and gloves, and invite your friends and family.

To show appreciation to volunteers, there will be free beer for those who work for three hours, and free wood-fired pizza (from Farm to Feast) after five hours.

Take a trip back in time; community hops harvests in B.C. are part of the historical fabric.
