This Saturday, June 29, an exciting fundraising event will raise money for the sixth year of the Chelsea Robinson Memorial Bursary.

The bursary is given at Chatelech Secondary School to a student pursuing a career in education and is in memory of a bright, beautiful and generous person who loved to dance, be with friends and have a good time.

Robinson's family and friends are inviting you to start off the long weekend in that same spirit with an awesome fundraiser in Davis Bay. Popular local entertainer DJ Astrid will be playing top hits and dance music starting at 8 p.m. at the Davis Bay/Wilson Creek Community Hall located at 5123 Davis Bay Rd.

The generosity of local businesses has been overwhelming with door prizes and sponsorship being provided. This is a 19-plus licensed event (valid ID is required for entry).

"It's common to hear from locals that you have to leave the Sunshine Coast to experience a great DJ night and dance with your friends. This event will end that myth," said Chelsea's sister, Melissa Robinson.

Event organizers are encouraging locals to make this DJ night part of their Canada Day long weekend stay-cation and enjoy a party atmosphere right near the beach. Tickets are only $12, available at Fossello's, Lucy's Clothing and Shoes and Re/Max Oceanview Realty in Sechelt or by contacting Kristi Evans at chelseascharity@live.ca.

Organizers cannot guarantee tickets at the door.
