Carol ships are back

Porpoise Bay

Back by popular demand, the Porpoise Bay Christmas Carol Cruise is ready to set sail again next Saturday, Dec. 13.

The boats will start their procession from the government dock in Porpoise Bay at 6 p.m. They will proceed past the provincial campsite then on to Sandy Hook. They will return along the West Porpoise Bay shoreline back to the government dock.

All vessels will be displaying colourful Christmas lights, and the lead vessel will be playing carols that can be heard right across the bay. Last year two kayakers wearing battery-powered lights joined us, and this year we are hoping for a flotilla. Please share with the paddlers in your networks!

For those who have never seen the ships, it is truly worthwhile and a great way to ring in the Christmas season.

This is a free family event. A great place to take in the sights and sounds is at the provincial campsite in Porpoise Bay. There is plenty of free parking, and this year there will be a community bonfire on the beach with hot chocolate and popcorn by donation. There will be a collection box if you wish to bring non-perishable food items for the food bank.

The boats can also be viewed from any other spot where you can see the water. Organizers invite everyone to come out and enjoy this festive community event.
