Sechelt Army Cadet Alex Walton is presented with a Bronze Cross by Major Sarah Bezanson, officer commanding the National Rifle Team.

Cadet Master Warrant Officer Alex Walton proudly represented Sechelt and British Columbia as a part of the Royal Canadian Army Cadet National Rifle Team (RCAC NRT) competing in the Imperial Meeting at Bisley, England. This is the largest shooting festival in the nation, held annually since 1868, that attracts top marksman from all across the globe.

As part of the Royal Canadian Army Cadet National Rifle Team, Alex’s score in the competition counted towards the highest possible score award, an award only given to those who earned perfect scores. Over the past eight weeks, he scored four highest possible scores, earning the bronze highest possible score cross.

Walton recently graduated from Chatelech Secondary School in Sechelt and spent three weeks at the Imperial Meeting hosted by the National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom. Upon his return to Ottawa, he also competed in the Ontario Rifle Association matches and the National Cadet Full-bore Championship.

“Travelling the world, making friends was definitely the highlight of my trip,” Walton said.

His unit is the 2963 Seaforth Highlanders Army Cadets in Sechelt.
