Become a confident speaker

TOASTMASTERS

Do you or someone you know have trouble finding the right words to say when speaking to others or a group of people? A SpeechCraft program can help you overcome this fear and help you become a confident and poised speaker.

Sunshine Toastmasters is holding a six-week introductory course in communication and public speaking skills this fall called SpeechCraft. This is a great way for people to learn the basic skills in preparing and presenting short talks or speeches.

SpeechCraft will help participants think on their feet, speak with confidence and speak so others will listen — all done in a friendly, non-threatening environment by experienced Toastmasters. Topics to be covered include: taking the fear out of speaking, organizing a speech, using vocal variety, providing positive/helpful feedback, and connecting with your audience.

Although it is a self-paced program, participants are encourage to fully participate every week.

The course starts Tuesday, Sept. 23, and runs for six consecutive Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt. The cost is $60 and the course manual is included.
