Baha’is will celebrate

200th Anniversary

The Baha’i community of the Sunshine Coast is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah (founder of the Baha’i faith) with a musical celebration in Sechelt.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, there will be musical performances at the Sechelt Art Gallery from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Performers include: the Craigan family, Trudi Diening, Miles Black, Valerie Rutter, Liva Behji, Monkia Schittek and Mike Weber.

The Baha’i faith is a world religion, founded in 1844, and there are more than five million Baha’i in more than 200 countries, including more than 35,000 Canadian members. Some of the tenets of the faith include: education for all, equality of women and men, and upholding science and religion.

The 200th anniversary of the Birth of Baha’u’llah is on Sunday, Oct. 22.
