A selection of iconic Sunshine Coast historical images is available for adoption.

The Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives is excited to announce the launch of Adopt an Archival Photograph, a Museum fundraising campaign that offers the perfect gift for family and friends this holiday season.

Museum staff have chosen a selection of iconic Sunshine Coast historical images from their collection that you can adopt for different levels of donation. For a more personalized gift, search the Museum’s online archive of over 7,000 images for a photograph that would make a meaningful gift for someone special.

With each photograph adoption, you will receive an official certificate and an 8”x10” reproduction of the photo, along with other rewards including Union Steamship art cards or the Helen McCall Community Album book (depending on the donation level). It’s the perfect gift package for fans of Sunshine Coast history!

Choose from images of historic locations including Davis Bay, Selma Park, Sechelt and Egmont, or photographs of the Beachcombers, logging, fishing and maritime history. Staff have also included images to adopt from the colourful Union Steamship brochure collection.

All funds raised from the campaign will be used to improve storage of the Museum’s culturally significant photograph and negative collection, including the purchase of cold-storage units for the archives. See scmaadoptaphoto.weebly.com to choose your photo, or call the Museum at 604-886-8232 for more information.
