Elphinstone Secondary School has a number of events coming up in support of 2014 grads and other school organizations.

This Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (on the Corner of Park Road and Hwy. 101), the Rotary Interact Club is hosting a car wash and bake sale.

At the school from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Elphi drag racing team is hosting its second annual car show featuring cars from the Coasters Car Club and a look at the club’s latest project — a Ford Pinto car.

The Elphi grad class is hosting a beer and burger fundraiser this Sunday, May 4, at Gramma’s Pub starting at 5 p.m.

There will be a silent auction and 50/50 draw. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by contacting Michele at 604-885-8151, email mwhiting@dccnet.com, or contact Mari Ann at 604-741-5876 or email bostrosky@telus.net.

The grad class is also holding its spring plant sale fundraiser on Friday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with several hanging baskets and plants for sale at very reasonable prices. You can pick them up at the parking lot across the street from the school. Call or email Mari Ann for more details.

Thursday nights are Family Fun nights from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the gym at Langdale Elementary School. Once a month will also include dinner for $2. Next Thursday, May 8, will feature a pizza dinner followed by floor hockey. To register, contact Christina or Sue at 604-886-2621.

Langdale Elementary School’s Parent Advisory Council is sponsoring a Spring Fair fundraiser on Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a cake walk, petting zoo, pony rides, bouncy castle, games, archery, face painting, cotton candy, a fire truck, raffles, prizes, a silent auction and a concession.  All are welcome whether you attend the school or not.

The Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives celebrates the traditions of the Coast Salish people with a two-day weaving workshop, facilitated by Jessica Casey.

Learn to weave an authentic cedar hat May 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $250 and includes all weaving materials. Call the museum to register at 604-886-8232.
