Ride 365 and 52 weeks of trails

Ah, the New Year, a time of fresh beginnings and exciting plans. You may already have resolutions to eat healthier, exercise more, and stress less.

Ah, the New Year, a time of fresh beginnings and exciting plans.

You may already have resolutions to eat healthier, exercise more, and stress less. Those are all very important ones, but surprise, surprise, I am hoping you pledge to get outside more this year and I have two exciting initiates to tell you about that can help.

Sunshine Coast Tourism has launched 52 Weeks of Trails. Each week, they will introduce you to a new trail (hike, bike, snowshoe or paddle) and they will blog about it with pictures and directions. The challenge for you to get out on that trail and share your experiences via social media. It is that simple. Go to www.sunshinecoastcanada.com for more information or #52weeksof trails.

Capitalizing on our four-season mountain biking area: (and one of the only ones in Canada, I might add), Off the Edge Adventure Sports has created Ride 365.

Here are the 5 simple steps:

Pick up a journal entry form from Off the Edge (OTE).

Ride your bike at least once a week all year long.

Document each ride in your journal.

Share your rides and experiences on social media.

Drop your completed journal entry form off at OTE in December to be edible to win some sweet prizes including a brand new bike!

Go to www.facebook.com/offtheedgeadventure or #ride365.

Research shows that writing down your goals and sharing them with others actually helps with successfully completing them.

So there you go, two ways to help us get more out of being outside in 2014.

It's going to be a great year and I can't wait to see you out there!
