Pender Harbour & Egmont

This Friday, Nov. 11, Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House welcomes to the stage Kenny Dunn and Anna Green performing original acoustic music to quench the soul, Joan and Ted with their original West Coast vocals and guitar, father and daughter duo Colin and Gracelynn Mailey, Tamara Goble and Roy, singer/songwriter on banjo and guitar performing folk/country and pop/rock. Doors open at 7 p.m., music at 7:30 p.m. at the School of Music, $10 suggested donation at the door. Coffee and goodies sold.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, the public is invited to learn about and provide feedback on the new Egmont/Pender Harbour Official Community Plan (OCP) draft before it proceeds toward adoption by the SCRD board in 2017. Meet SCRD planning staff and members of the local advisory group who have been working together to create a new vision and updated plan for the area. The information session will take place at the Pender Harbour Community Hall and the public is encouraged to drop by any time between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Refreshments and a light snack will be provided. A copy of the OCP can be picked up from the SCRD office at 1975 Field Road in Wilson Creek or online at www.scrd.ca

Monday, Nov. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the School of Music, the P.H. Garden Club is pleased to present Laurel and Cheryl from the Sunshine Coast Nursery. They will discuss Christmas displays and guide everyone in making a 6” arrangement to take home. Free for members, drop-in $5 plus $15 for supplies. Pender Harbour Wildlife Society presents Our Cetaceans with Susan MacKay, Tuesday, Nov. 15, 7 p.m. at Pender Harbour Secondary School. Susan is the founder of the Wild Ocean Whale Society and Whales and Dolphins of B.C. She has been involved with photographing and recording whale, dolphin and porpoise activity for over 20 years. Seniors Initiative activities this week carry on with Walking Tuesdays 10:30 to 11 a.m. and drop-in carpet bowling Wednesday 1 to 3 p.m. Harbourside Friendship gets together Thursday at 10:30 a.m. featuring guest speaker Dianne Paulus, dietician and nutritionist. Lunch is served at noon for $10. Friday yoga classes start with floor mat exercises 9 to 10 a.m. followed with chair yoga 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. All activities are at the Pender Harbour Community Hall.
