Pender Harbour’s National Cupcake Day for the BCSPCA and Humane Societies is this Saturday, Feb. 24, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Madeira Park in front of the EarthFair Store. Come to the party and enjoy delicious cupcakes, pup cakes, home-baked creations with a warm cup of Steeped Tea. Shop the No Flea Flee Market for new and gently used pet items at silly prices. There will be a raffle and free info from the Vancouver Humane Society. 

Women’s Connection gets together Feb. 27. Guest speaker Lee-Ann Ennis will present an update on PODS including the latest architect’s renderings, vision and timeline for the revitalization of Irving‘s Landing. The PODS foundation aims to weave together nature, community and culture in Ruby Lake Lagoon Society’s vision for PODS 2020. 

Harbourside Friendship, March 1, welcomes Mary-anne Brabander speaking on Navigating Seniors Services. Meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon. Drop in $10 at the PH Community Hall. 

Spring 2018 art classes with instructor Shelley Stunnell will be Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 to 3 p.m. at Sarah Wray Hall. Charcoal Portraits of Children: March 5 to 21, Acrylic Pours: April 4 to May 3, Water-Based Oils or Acrylic Painting: May 7 to June 1. 

The Pender Harbour Blues Society is kicking off their musical year with an Easter weekend dance Saturday, March 31 with the best party band Brickhouse at PH Community Hall. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets $30 available now at www.phblues.ca, Java Docks and Strait Music.
