The Pender Harbour Choir invites you to their winter concert, Christmas Memories, this Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens. Tickets are $20. Their second performance will be Sunday, Dec. 10 at the School of Music at 2 p.m. Tickets are at EarthFair Store, Sechelt Visitor Centre and from choir members. 

This Friday is also Quiz Night at the Legion. While you are there, pick up tickets for New Year’s Eve and Robbie Burns Night. The Christmas turkey and ham draws and pie auction will be next Saturday, Dec. 16. 

The Harbour Gallery’s annual sale continues this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All paintings, large and small, have been reduced in price for the month of December. The Harbour artists have also recently completed their 2017 large collaborative piece co-ordinated by June Malaka. Proceeds from the sale of this unique piece, Reconnecting, will fund the Ada Priest memorial bursary awarded to a Pender Harbour student furthering their Fine Arts studies.

Get your Polar Express tickets now at the EarthFair Store for $5 and enjoy the Christmas lights. The first tour is this Saturday, Dec. 9, through Garden Bay. Madeira Park tour is Tuesday Dec. 12. The bus leaves at 7 p.m. EarthFair is open six days a week and open late Fridays this month. Check out the PODS store next door, visit, donate, and volunteer.

All efforts are focused now on building our community’s wonderful PODS project at Irvines Landing. This Saturday, Dec. 9, come join the PODS Outdoor Pier Party starting at 3 p.m. The PODS flag will rise and fly, the bonfire will blaze, the Christmas lights will dazzle as carols fill the air. There will be food and treats and everyone is welcome! 

The Coast Christmas Market at John Henry’s will include new vendors this weekend – Christopher Norman Chocolates and Everbloom Hand-crafted. Hours are Friday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Pender Harbour Com-munity Club’s Christmas Bingo is Thursday, Dec. 14 at the Hall. All games begin at 6:30 p.m. Bring a small gift to exchange and some snacks to share. Special thank you to all players and especially those who come from Sechelt and Gibsons. Without you PH Bingo would have folded. A special thank you from all the players and staff to Teal Loverock, the caller. Sunny Charbonneau is the hard-working, long serving volunteer who has kept Bingo alive in Pender Harbour. Thank you is just not enough to say. You are a star!

Watch for your 2018 Winter/Spring Recreation Guide in the mail. Registration for programs is open, with lots of new programs such as salsa/swing for adults; multi sport and swim for kids; adaptive yoga and more! 

Monday, Dec. 18 Har-bourside Friendships invites you to take a bus trip to The Nutcracker performance at Raven’s Cry Theatre. Tickets are $35. Call Marlene for details and to reserve 604-883-9900. 

Time seems to fly at double speed during the holiday season and there is only one week left to shop at the Bargain Barn until it closes for the season Saturday, Dec. 16 at 3:30 p.m. The volunteers will take well deserved holidays before returning in the New Year opening Wednesday, Jan. 17. Please hold on to your donations until then. Happy shopping and happy holidays from all at The Barn!
