Pender Harbour & Egmont

This Friday, Oct. 13, Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House at the School of Music welcomes Katrina Bishop, Ken Dunn and Anna Green, and Chelsea Rubin. Doors open at 7 p.m.; music at 7:30 p.m. $10 suggested donation at door. Coffee and goodies will be sold. 

The eighth annual Mush-room Festival Oct. 13 to 15 starts Friday, with the feature presentation by Brian ‘Bushman’ Lee: Wilderness Survival 101, at 7 p.m. at Roberts Creek Community Hall. Tickets $10 at the door. Saturday is the big Mushroom Show 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the PH Community Hall. There will be hundreds of mushrooms identified on display. Visit the multitude of vendors and learn the culinary and creative ways mushrooms are used. There will be door prizes and raffles. Admission $5. You can purchase an annual SHROOM family membership for just $25. Join the forays and receive fantastic info monthly. Sunday, Oct. 15 11 a.m. is the mushroom foray and tasting with local mushroom experts. Reserve at scshroom.org. 

There are a few tickets left for one of the best parties of the year, Ladies Night at the Legion, Saturday evening Oct. 14 – $60 for dinner, Calcutta, music and dancing featuring the fabulous Playback. Check the Legion and Harbour Insurance for tickets. 

Come on an African safari when Pender Har-bour Wildlife presents Dana Jantzen’s A Visit to South Africa and Masai Mara, Kenya, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m. at PH Secon-dary School. Home baked refreshments will be served. See penderharbourwildlife.com for more info. 

Seniors Initiative activities this week begin Tuesday 10:30 to 11 a.m. with an easy paced special exercise program with walking based moves. Wednesday come carpet bowling 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Harbourside Friendship starting at 10:30 a.m., enjoy guest speaker Karen Wells, a charming and talented photographer speaking on Observing Nature through the camera’s eye. Lunch served at noon $10. Chair yoga is Friday 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. All activities at the PH Community Hall.

Boo! The EarthFair Store has an absolutely spooktacular quilt on display for all you Halloween lovers. This fabulous work of art donated by local quilters is up for auction. Make your scary bid! Bids accepted until Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. 

The Pender Harbour Blues Society is pleased to present the ninth annual Halloween Howl Saturday, Oct. 28 at Pender Harbour Community Hall with the fabulous Steve Kozak. There will be prizes for best costume. Tickets at www.phblues.ca, Java Docks and Strait Music. 

The 16th annual Pender Harbour Rotary Auction is Saturday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. at the Legion. Tickets are $25 (includes appies) at the Legion, Harbour Insurance or from any Rotarian.
