The New Year was welcomed in at the Legion in fine style to the fabulous sounds of Lori Carmichael and Randy Rayment.

The volunteers and new executive provided a first-class event that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to all the busy hands and lovely guests!

Tickets for Robbie Burns celebration with the Coast Fiddlers on Jan. 24 are now on sale at the Legion and Harbour Insurance.

The first School of Music coffeehouse of the year is this Friday, Jan. 9. We are happy to welcome young guitarist Cameron Peters of Sechelt to our stage for the first time.  Returning is Robin Atchison of Wilson Creek with his original guitar style and vocals and Pender Harbour favourite Kenneth Norman Johnson will be performing a set of his beautiful new piano compositions. Doors open at 7; music begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Pender Harbour Grad Class of 2015 bottle drive is this Saturday, Jan. 10.

Door-to-door collection starts at 8:30 a.m. Bottles can be dropped off at the fire hall after 10 a.m. that day or direct pickup can be arranged by emailing [email protected]. Donations can also be made directly at GRIPS.

On Mondays drop in for hockey at the high school from 7 to 9 p.m. Also on Monday’s the boxing for ladies class runs from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Pender Harbour pool. This class is for ages 12 and up and there is a $8 drop-in fee.

Put your best foot forward and take in the magnificent beauty of our Coast Mondays and Wednesdays with the Pender Harbour hiking club. Call 604-883-2930 to join them.

Reminder that the Bargain Barn will be opening again on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Wednesdays drop in for pickleball at the high school from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Harbourisde Friendship meets every Thursday at the Community Hall.

At their Jan. 15 meeting join in at the morning swim at the pool with lunch to follow at the Community Hall. Car pool to be arranged. For more info call Cathy at 604-883-9760.

Drop-in for soccer at the high school every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

A reminder to all those generous people who place their IGA receipts in one of the donation boxes available in the store. IGA can only accept 2014 receipts up to the end of January this year. Also, when removing credit or debit card data from the receipt, to be sure the date is left on the receipt. IGA cannot honour receipts without a date.
