Halloween is here! Tonight (Oct. 31) everyone is invited to the Halloween Party at the Egmont Community Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Dress up and enjoy the fun, refreshments and fireworks.

More fireworks will light up the harbour at 7:30 p.m. brought to you by the Pender Harbour volunteer fire department. Raffle tickets for the bounty of amazing prizes will be drawn during the evening of family fun and entertainment at Seafarer’s Millennium Park. The winner of the scarecrow contest will also be announced.

On Saturday, Nov. 1 there is a full roster of events, so get your ducks in a row and board the Wood Duck Bus in the morning for the guided tour of the Skookumchuck Hike and Egmont Heritage Centre. Call the Earthfair store to reserve your spot at 604-883-9006. 

The artisans early bird Christmas craft fair is on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hall.

The Pender Harbour Golf Club is holding a Halloween Scramble at noon with Happy Hour at 4 and dinner at 5 p.m.

In the evening the sixth annual Halloween Howl featuring the music of Steve Kozak and his West Coast All Stars will entertain all you well-dressed dancing ghouls and goblins at the Community Hall. Prizes will be awarded for the most outstanding costumes. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the tunes start at 9, brought to you by the Pender Harbour Blues Society.

Mimosa, the Vancouver/Sunshine Coast quintet will fill the School of Music with their own unique sound of gorgeous melodies, quirky lyrics, and improvisations this Sunday Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.

Monday is always the first outing of the week for the Pender Harbour hiking club, and they can almost guarantee good weather! Join them Mondays and/or Wednesdays for a great adventure on our beautiful Coast. Call 604-883-2930 for more details.

The Women’s Connection welcomes Pender Harbour boy and retired returnee Len Lee to their gathering this Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. at the School of Music. He will talk about the joys and challenges of growing up in Pender Harbour in the ‘50s and ‘60s. A huge contributor to his childhood home, he continues to serve his community on the Chamber of Commerce, Harbour Authority and PH Advisory Council.

Next Thursday, Nov. 6, Harbourside Friendships will start of the morning with coffee at 10:30 a.m. at the hall. The lovely Shendra Hanney will give an interesting film presentation and talk about her journey with the Lacandon Maya. Hot lunch will be served at noon for $10. The Community School has many events for the rainy month of November.

Boxing for ladies is Monday evenings from 5 to 6 p.m. at the pool with an $8 drop-in fee. Computer Cafe is Nov. 4, 18 and 25. The class 4 driver’s study group is Wednesdays, the Canadian Firearms safety course is Nov. 14 to 16 and conservation and outdoor recreation education is Nov. 28 to 30.

The Pender Harbour Health Centre is currently working on a disaster plan for the community. They are looking for doctors, registered nurses, physio, occupational therapists and social workers willing to assist and have your name and contact available should the need arise.
