Ocktoberfest was all it should be and more last Saturday at the Legion.

Fabulous food prepared by the very talented duo Lori and Wayne, served up by a team of handsomely attired smiling volunteers was delicious. Skinny Jimmy and his band played great music all night keeping the dance floor packed with Legion members and guests showing off their moves. Thank you to all who made this evening a great one.

Tonight, Friday, Oct. 24 the Pender Harbour Community Club welcomes all youth to the Hall. A 14 and under event starts at 3:30 p.m. with an event for older youth starting at 7 p.m. Popcorn and beverages will be for sale for a $2 donation. Watch for posters displayed at school or contact Tess at 604-883-0024 for more information.

This Saturday, Oct. 25 there is more mushroom identification and foraging to enjoy; a guided forest walk and presentation with Dr. John Field and John Dafoe. There will be a mushroom themed lunch provided by Ruby Lake Resort Restaurant. Travel back and forth in style on the Wood Duck Bus. There are only a few spaces left, so call the friendly folks at the Earthfair Store at 604-883-9006.

The Ruby Lake Lagoon Society is offering another exciting tour event — Skoomkumchuck guided hike and heritage centre visit. Lee Ann Ennis and Beverly Saunders will be your guides with special guest Billy Griffith next Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Chef’s choice lunch will be wild salmon created for you by the Skookum Chuck Wagon chefs. Call the Earthfair Store to reserve. All proceeds go to the Iris Griffith nature reserve.

The Women’s Connection welcomes Lynn Ujavary owner of Swish Ladies Wear in Gibsons to their get-together on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. at the School of Music.

Ujavary, fresh from buying trips to New York and Europe, will share her passion for fashion and the latest fall fashion trends from the global fashion centres.

Please note the November Women’s Connection moves ahead one week in respect of Remembrance Day.

The Pender Harbour Girl Guide and Sparks unit have a call out to anyone who may have used Sparks uniforms and camp hats. Seven girls have just registered in Sparks and uniforms and camp hats are needed for these new members. Please call Linda at 604-883-2819 or Andrea at 604-883-2221.

A sweet reminder that chocolate mint cookies are here! Call the ladies if you would like some.

Tickets for Mimosa, the Vancouver quintet’s performance next Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at the School of Music, are now on sale.

Tickets are $25, available from Harbour Insurance, John Henry’s Marina, Sechelt Visitors centre and Gaia’s Fair Trade.

Next Thursday, Oct. 30 come out in costume join in the fun and games and celebrate Halloween with Harbourside Friendships at the Hall at 10:30 a.m.

Dress up again for the sixth annual Halloween Howl Dance and Costume Extravaganza presented by the Pender Harbour Blues Society at the Hall at 8:30 p.m. next Saturday Nov. 1. Steve Kozak and his West Coast All-Stars will be rocking the hall.
