Oktoberfest in the Harbour is alive and well.

Come enjoy all the great traditions of this much loved Bavarian festival at the Legion this Saturday, Oct. 18. Tickets are only $22, available at the Legion bar.

There will be a general meeting at 2 p.m. the same day and another much-loved tradition the Saturday Meet Draw will get underway at 3.

Tickets are available now for the Rotary Club Art Auction being held at the Legion on Nov. 8.

The Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society (PHLHS) invites everyone to an informal open house at Sarah Wray Hall this Sunday, Oct. 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.

PHLHS is very proud of the work done by their community volunteers to bring new life to this historic building.

The following Sunday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. you are invited to Dreams Realized, Art Show at Sarah Wray Hall. Ruby Lake resident Shelley Stunnel has offered popular art classes for adults interested in learning how to work in pencil, coloured pencil, charcoal and acrylics. Now her talented students are ready to show their work and you are invited to see what they have accomplished under the guidance of a truly inspiring teacher. See more at penderharbourheritage.ca.

The Pender Harbour garden club’s next meeting is this Monday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. at the School of Music. Michelle Young, master landscaper from Salish Soils will discuss home composting, the technology of Salish Soils compost and other products.

You can get out for a hike with the good folks of the PH hiking club Monday and Wednesday mornings every week. Call 604-883-2930 for more details.

The PH Wildlife Society welcomes Rand Rudland to its meeting this Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Pender Harbour Secondary at 7:30 p.m.

Rudland will present an overview of his 24-day, 5,000-km driving trip to Paraguay and the UNESCO World Heritage Iguazu Falls area. There is no charge and all are welcome.

Join Harbourside Friendship group for “Movie of the Month” on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Hall. Hot lunch will be served at noon for $10. Cathy has more details at 604-883-9760.

The Pender Harbour Community School Society has events they want you to know about.

The Healthy Living Series continues on Tuesday, Oct. 21 talking about nutrition and fitness. This $10 session will be held at the pool.

There’s still room to get in the ring for boxing with Barry Krangle on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. for grades 6 and up. Boxing for ladies starts Monday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the pool.

Drop in sports include: hockey Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. for ages 12 and up. Fee is $3. Pickelball is Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a $3 drop-in fee and soccer is Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for grades 7 and up and is also a $3 drop-in fee.

The Ruby Lake Lagoon Society is hosting a series of guided tours this fall and winter. Each tour includes transportation aboard the Wood Duck Bus, knowledgeable guides in the experience, round table discussions and Chef’s Choice Delight.
