Harbour Highlights

PENDER HARBOUR & EGMONT

Celebration time is here as the 18th Annual Pender Harbour Jazz Festival presented by the PH Music Society takes over the Harbour this weekend (Sept. 19 to 21).

You can check out the fabulous performers at www.phjazz.ca.

Many performances have been sold out and may I suggest you visit the website and buy your tickets as soon as the line-up is announced next year.

The days of last minute “lets go” in Pender Harbour are over. A very good example was last Saturday at the Legion salmon barbecue dinner fundraiser.

What a stellar night! The outstanding dinner included not only beautiful, cooked to perfection salmon thanks to Lori volunteer extraordinaire and chef Bonnie, but delicious appetizers and desert. The award-winning, mega-talented Ken Johnson made magic on the keyboards all evening. Huge thanks and a standing ovation to those who donated and volunteered making this a hallmark event.

To all who came Saturday to buy the incredibly inexpensive sold-out $20 tickets may I suggest buy your Oktoberfest tickets for Oct. 18 soon.

Join the Pender Harbour hiking club out on the trails twice a week, every Monday and Wednesday. This is the perfect time to enjoy our Coastal paradise. Call 604-883-2930 for all the details.

The Pender Harbour Women’s Connection will reconvene with its annual potluck lunch get-together this Tuesday, Sept. 23. Bring new friends, reconnect with old friends and share some finger food and good times starting at 10 a.m. at the School of Music.

Deb Cole, lead lady from the Pender Harbour Aquatic and Fitness Centre will be the inspiring guest speaker. Shake off those lazy days of summer and launch into one of the many fun fall programs. Bring along your $10 annual membership fee.

Harbourside Friendships invites everyone for fun and friendship each Thursday morning at the Community Hall. Come for coffee at 10:30 a.m. This Thursday, Sept 25 guest Edna Deerunner will speak about her medicinal products and healing work. Hot lunch for $10 will be served at noon. Please call Cathy at 604-883-9760 for more information.

Community Day next Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Community Hall is an opportunity to visit and learn about the 50-plus volunteer organizations in Pender Harbour.

This will be a great day for your group to show off all you do in the best possible way. Organizations wishing to participate should contact Karen Dyck at 604-883-9415 or visit penderharbouradvisorycouncil.com.
