Pender Harbour and Egmont

Come and enjoy a relaxing summer evening of entertainment at the beautiful waterfront theatre at the School of Music coffeehouse tonight, Friday July 11.

Coast performers on stage will be Bonar Harris singer and guitarist, Greer Ross, jazz singer, Nikki Weber’s two youth vocal ensembles Connection and Sister Act with special guest Renee Harper, a recent winner at the Sunshine Coast Canada Day talent show.

Doors open at 7, with music at 7:30 p.m. Coffee, cool drinks and desserts are available, a fundraiser for the Pender Harbour choir.

This Sunday, July 13 starting at 1 p.m. is the first of two musical events. The Coast School of Celtic Music will conclude its festival with their traditional Big Band free concert at the Outdoor Classroom. Then at 2 p.m., A Smile on the Sea; Boat Songs and Stories of Two Oceans — a special performance by Dan Rubin of stories and songs at the School of Music. This is a fundraiser for the PH Living Heritage Society is an event all ages will enjoy. Tickets are $20 for adults $10 for ages 12 and under available at John Henry’s, Earthfair Store, and Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives in Gibsons.

The Iris Griffith Centre is the perfect paradise to visit this summer for everyone, families, visitors and your holiday guests. The Centre is open every day and admission is free! Twice a week in July on Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a very special drop off kids club, Lagoonies Club meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is for ages five to 13.

Get out and take in the cool mornings and beauty of the Coast with the Pender Harbour hiking club each Monday and Wednesday. Call 604-883-2930 for all the details.

On Monday, July 14 at 10 a.m. at the School of Music the Pender Harbour Gardening Club in partnership with the WildSafe BC and the Sunshine Coast Regional District is hosting a workshop for residents in the proper use of electrical fences for protection from wildlife predators. Gillian Sanders, creator of the Bear Smart Program will be presenting the workshop.

Harbourside Friendships and Seniors Initiative’s meets Thursday, July 17 at the Community Hall for stories and songs with “George”. Lunch will follow. For information call Cathy at 604-883-9760 or Marlene at 604-883-9900.   

On a hot sunny Saturday nothing beats a visit to the beer garden.

On Saturday, July 19 come on down to the Madeira Park Legion’s beer garden for a cold one, burgers and live music and more starting at noon.
