Halfmoon Bay

Russell deClare is coming to Halfmoon Bay, brought to you by the Halfmoon Bay Community Association. DeClare was the founding member of Prairie Oyster, a multiple Juno award winner and inductee into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, and has performed, arranged and recorded with Sylvia Tyson, Murray McLauchlan, Leon Redbone, Carroll Baker and The Bebop Cowboys. He will be appearing with Steve Briggs from Powell River. Opening for them will be Joe Stanton and Simon Paradis.

The exclusive concert is one night only, May 5 at Coopers Green Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m.; showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at Welcome Woods Market and Halfmoon Bay General Store for $25.

Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary Halfmoon Bay is hosting a new fundraiser for 2017 – the Fabulous Ladies Bridge Luncheon on Thursday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens. The cost for a table is $120. Tickets go on sale April 1 and can be purchased from Beth at 604-885-4820. There will be hands of bridge, a scrumptious lunch, door prizes and a silent auction. Please support our Auxiliary.

The Halfmoon Bay Country Fair will be held on July 8 and 9 this summer, and the theme will be Super Heroes. Batman volunteers who would like to help with the fun should contact Toni Morris at tonimorris@dccnet.com.

Fundraising for the new community hall at Coopers Green has begun. All pledges are welcome, and donations over $100 will receive a tax receipt.

New players are welcome to drop in and play pickleball Wednesday evenings at the Halfmoon Bay Elementary School gym. All equipment is provided. Cost is $3 per session. First time is free. There are three courts in play, one dedicated to beginners with instruction provided, the other two follow the level play format set out by the Sunshine Coast Pickleball Association.
