Wendy Pearson is the new information and referral person for Halfmoon Bay.

The Information and Referral Centre is a pilot project funded by the Sunshine Coast Regional District and supported by the Sunshine Coast Community Resource Centre through its Progress Plan project.

The goal of this project is to maintain connection to community groups and information with individuals and families whether they are long-time residents or new to the community and to create a sense of belonging and pride within our community. They envision many economic as well as social benefits.

From May to October they are hoping to spread the word to community groups, businesses and residents (new and old). At the end of the project all info will be submitted to the SCRD for review and they hope to continue what they feel will be a valuable service for our community.

A reminder that our area director and SCRD board chair Garry Nohr is available from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday’s at the Halfmoon Bay Café to answer any questions about Halfmoon Bay’s official community plan.

The Broom Busters on Redrooffs Road are meeting on May 28 at 10 a.m. at the Coopers Green picnic tables to do a clean sweep of our picturesque arterial.

Contact Mary Beth Knechtel at 604-741-9846 if you would like to join them, or just show up with loppers, work gloves and sunscreen.

The Halfmoon Bay branch of St. Mary's Hospital/Healthcare Auxiliary would like to thank all who came out and supported their bake, craft and plant sale last weekend, which raised more than $2,900.

To have your Say at the Bay contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at teknight@telus.net, or call 604-885-5034.
