ROBERTS CREEK

This Friday at the Legion there will be dinner music by Lion Zeet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by Friday Night Live with Bonar Harris, David J. Taylor, Pamela Messner and J & G round out the line-up. Admission is $5 for members and $10 for guests.

The community of Roberts Creek and his worldwide family will celebrate the life of JohnJohn Morris this Saturday, May 17.

JohnJohn has been a Creek resident for nearly 40 years. Everyone is welcome to join at 2 p.m. at the Legion to share stories and sing a song for JJ. It’s a potluck and will be followed at approximately 5 p.m. by a procession to Roberts Creek Beach and the spreading of ashes. In lieu of lowers, donations may be made through the Legion to the Johnjohn Morris Memorial Fund, in person or on-line at robertscreeklegion.ca.

Also on Saturday, drop by the annual sunflower seedling fundraiser for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. There will be a wide variety of sunflowers to choose from. Funds support grassroots programs to help people in Africa. The sale runs from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Cedar Grove Road just off Beach Avenue.

The Roberts Creek Arts Festival offers two days and three nights of exceptional cultural immersion, music art, design film and food served up with unique flavour that maintains Roberts Creek rep as The Gumboot Nation. Visit the website at RobertsCreekArtsFestival.com for more details.

The 6th Roberts Creek Scout Group will hold a yard sale and bottle/can drive next Saturday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you would have items you would like to donate call 604-886-7140. Bottles and cans can also be picked up, but you can drop them off on Saturday.

We also still have some horse manure left from our other recent fundraiser. Call 604-644-3833 if you are interested. As always, thanks for your support of Scouting here in the Creek.

Give me a shout if you have something to share for next week by calling 604-885-2282 or email gumbootconnetion@telus.net.
