For the second time, Coast car enthusiasts Brent and Kareen Stewart have been selected to have one of their vintage muscle cars in the prestigious Snap-On Tools snapshots calendar.
The annual calendar is produced by National Premium, which distributes the calendar to Snap-On dealers worldwide. The car selected was their 1971 Dodge Demon 340. The couple was previously selected to appear in the calendar in 2003. On that occasion the vehicle selected was a white 1971 Duster.
"To get selected for the calendar again is pretty exciting," Brent said. "We've been doing the car thing since 2000, when I started looking for a car, and have been pretty intensely involved with shows and drag racing on the Coast for many years. When we got back into the show circuit, we found this car in Minneapolis, and it was about 80 per cent done. We finished it and we're very proud of it."
Brent said the calendar has been a staple of the Snap-On Tools brand going on 20 years, so to be selected twice is quite an achievement, he figured.
"You submit your car and take your chances. I've submitted lots of pictures over the years," he said. "I received my box of calendars that I ordered a few weeks ago. We plan to share them with friends."
Brent said this past year was a big one for them as they travelled to Los Angeles and Las Vegas for a pair of prestigious car shows. On several occasions he was told that he had the good fortune of having "one of the nicest Demons around."
"That sure made me feel good - made me feel like all the hard work has been worth it," he said. "When I got home, I had to deal with all the things I had learned that were not quite perfect with the car. Now I feel that the car is just about as good as I can make it and still drive it most places. It has now been classed as a number one car. After the big trip down south there were lots of other trips to locations in B.C. and Washington in the summer. Awards and trophies were also won at most of these shows, including at our own Sleepy Hollow Rod Run in Sechelt."
