You are invited to the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden for a Woodland Christmas, this Sunday, Dec. 2, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Sparkly lights in the dark season, living greenery indoors, music, laughter, families and friends -these are the finest festivities. You can share in these good things, plus crafts and stories for children, botanical wreaths and other decorations inspired by nature, holiday baking, refreshments and lots of good cheer. Admission is by donation.

The theme this year, "big and small," will feature a huge Christmas tree, tiny ones for kids to make, and Santas big and small from a private collection.

Grandma June will act as storyteller, a favourite with the young and young-at-heart; even Scrooges will struggle not to smile.

Music with DJ little d will include seasonal tunes to make you move and laugh.

Write a wish, greeting or blessing to hang on the wish tree, too.

The pixies have been busy baking pies, loaves, bars and cookies for the holiday bake sale, and the elves have made our famous twigs-and-sprigs living wreaths and other hand-made decorations for purchase. Inspired by natural holiday décor? Then why not take-home some bundles.

The Garden's Winter Lights show will continue Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout Decem-ber from 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is by donation. Bring family and friends to enjoy a radiant evening with thousands of twinkly lights, add your wishes to the wish tree, and have some refreshments.

With the ongoing support of the Garden's partner sponsor, Sunshine Coast Credit Union, Woodland Christmas and Winter Lights may well be on your list of must-do events every year.

We've decked our halls, tested our bulbs and lit up our paths and trees. Our collection of colourful lights is greatly expanded, adorning the trees and garden beds, too. Special thanks to Rona for their assistance.

The Garden is open daily throughout the winter from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Christmas Day. The Garden is located at 5941 Mason Rd. in West Sechelt. See www.coastbotanicalgarden.org for more information.
