This Saturday, Sept. 21, the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association is excited to celebrate the reopening of the Sunshine Coast Arena in Sechelt.
What better way to come together as a community than to raise some funds at the same time for two very needy families.
A full day is planned to help kids and families celebrate the new hockey season as well as give back. This free community event will have exciting exhibition games, a barbecue, a sledge hockey demonstration, a bottle drive and 50/50 draw with proceeds going to two families in need, one with a child diagnosed with a bone marrow disorder and a single mom recovering from a life changing motor vehicle accident.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
Minor hockey games from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Family Network concession open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., sledge hockey demo from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m., free spin class demo from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 to 2:15 p.m., cake cutting at 2 p.m., free family activities in the community from 2:30 to 5 p.m., free public skate with music by Jim Taylor from 3 to 5 p.m. and a figure skating club demo at 4 p.m.
Come and celebrate the new hockey season, check out the new and improved arena and, of course, support families in our community.
