Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley comfortable with performing together at Grammys

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Grammys often like to bring musical odd couples together for performances. That's not the case with one of this year's duos, Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley.

The American country crooners have toured together several times since 2006, and they're actually in the midst of a joint tour right now (while there are no Canadian dates, the pair is scheduled to play the Boots & Hearts Music Festival in Bowmanville, Ont., in August).

And while viewers might get a kick out of the Grammys' unlikely combinations, Lambert says she's relieved to be taking the stage with someone she knows so well.

"It's so cool to perform with someone that you're comfortable with because you kind of lift each other up," she said prior to rehearsals at the Staples Center on Friday, where she and Bentley were polishing a medley of his "Home" and her "Over You."

"We're going to be so nervous, but our bands are friends and we're friends and at least we don't feel like we're up there alone. But we're glad to represent our genre together. We're out there on the road doing it every night but we get to do it here in front of a ton of people we're fans of."

Such as?

"Beyonce's sitting in front of me and she's always been one of my favourites, so I'm very excited," she enthused.

It's a busy time for Lambert, even beyond the tour. She's just finished recording a sophomore album with her country group the Pistol Annies, and then she plans to start her next solo record with the aim of having new material out in 2014.

"So new music is coming everywhere," she said with a laugh.
