The level of discourse on the subject of the George has truly reached a new low.
For those folks not on Facebook, you are lucky. You donít get to witness the personal attacks and disrespectful tone that some of our community members are engaged in.†
There are people in our community who feel The George development is too high and too big. Point blank.
Theyíve reiterated their view that this is the biggest issue. They have reiterated that they are not against a hotel, but against the height and size. But some folks in our community seem to have their earplugs in and continue to misleadingly maintain that such folks are naysayers and basically anti-development backwater idiots.†
I for one would welcome the hotel if it was aesthetically built with height and form that fits in with the already established town. Why is my view a radical one? My view promotes a compromise (even though it has been noted that I shouldnít have an opinion since I donít live in the town). The view of the developer promotes all or nothing. Why is he right and those who hold my view wrong?†
The promoters of The George are putting forth the idea that this project will allow for a place for community to meet. I wonder if after all is said and done, there will be a cohesive community at all.†
