The Sunshine Coast RCMP is issuing a warning to businesses and the public about at least three recent attempts to utter counterfeit currency in the same Sechelt business.
The attempts were made between Jan. 20 and 29.
“The suspects have attempted to utter counterfeit American $50 bills on all three occasions, but have not ruled out other counterfeit currency, as only one of the bills was seized by the business,” said media spokesperson Cpl. Steve Chubey. “RCMP is urging businesses to seize any counterfeit currency if safe to do so and immediately report all suspected counterfeit money to police.”
Anyone with information on the suspects or on incidents of counterfeit money are urged to contact RCMP 604-885-2266 or BC Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
The investigation is still ongoing.
