The Chatelech Secondary School ski and snowboard team’s season is off to a great start, filling the podium in their past two races.

In the first competition two weekends ago, Graden Deasey brought home a first place in boys’ snowboarding, passing through the gates substantially ahead of the runner-up. Pierre Martinet secured second place boys’ skiing and Laren Pudek took third place in girls’ snowboarding. Caleb Burnham had a great showing for his first race of the season with a fifth-place showing.

Last weekend the team raced again up at Whistler.

Pierre captured first place in boys’ skiing, Pearl Deasey brought home the second place ribbon in girls’ snowboarding, and Laren secured third place for the second consecutive week, Ella Adams raced extremely well and came in fifth in the girls’ skiing category.

The competition is heating up between Duncan Bryson and Jason Fournier as they fight for the lead in boys’ skiing.

Ingrid Bryson secured a very respectable seventh place in girls’ skiing, and Callum Rive and Jasper Deasey followed up with sixth and 12th place respectively in boys’ snowboarding.

Leif Magnussen, Braydon Fletcher and Kaiden deRoon, who joined the team this year, have had a great start to their season as well.

Chatelech will race again next week, and is sure to show strong again.
