Our highway to the future

The George Hotel is something I believe is very important to the future of Gibsons.

It will provide a much needed employment base for younger people in our community, a place to meet and take visitors, a place to generate non-residential taxes, and provide spin-off business opportunities for the entrepreneurs in our town and district. Don’t let this opportunity pass by, as it won’t come by often.

Sure it means change, and more for some than others. But you must balance that with a look to the future — we must diversify our economy — Port Mellon won’t be there forever. Sometimes economics kills these projects. Don’t let it be our councils listening to short-sighted people who think the world won’t change.

Remember the uproar about the Horseshoe Bay highway bypass for the Olympics? Who ever talks about it now? It’s a nice efficient highway.

Make The George part of our “Highway to the Future”.
