Falcons shutout by Blue Aces

Youth soccer

The Sunshine Coast Rep Falcons dropped a close 1-0 decision to the Blue Aces last weekend in rep soccer action.

The first half was scoreless between the two archrivals, but the action was hard and fast. Adding to the intrigue was the foggy weather.

The Aces scored late in the second half and despite a late push, the Falcons could not score the equalizer.

Despite the loss, the Falcons are still first in their division. Their next home game is this Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Kinnikinnick Park.

U11 girls

In its first game after the Christmas holiday break, Storm played to a scoreless tie with the West Vancouver Spuraways last Sunday.

The teams were evenly matched and the play of the ball alternated from one end of the field to the other, with great runs, expert passing and awesome goaltending.

Stormís fitness level is high and it looks like the hard work in practices is really paying off. The teamís dedicated coaches, Trina Giesbrecht, Mark Goerzen and Jim Yakasovich, have been introducing new drills and concepts and working hard on improving endurance and strength which, judging by Sundayís stellar performance by the girls,
is really paying off.
