The U13 Falcons winning streak came to an end on the Dec. 13 weekend with a 3-1 loss to the Killarney Phoenix in rep boys soccer action.
Great passing had the Falcons leading in the first half on a Mikhail Hanning goal.
But Killarney fought back in the second half with a three-goal outburst for the win. Despite the loss, the Falcons are still in first place in their division. Their next home game is Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Kinnikinnick field in Sechelt.
On Saturday, Dec. 21, the Falcons went to Richmond for an indoor tournament at the Olympic Oval. Results were not submitted this week.
Storm played their last game of 2013 against the West Vancouver Spuraways, but was unable to bring home a win.
Perhaps too many candy canes on the ferry ride over got the best of the girls as they rallied hard, but were unable to hold off the Spuraways in the second half.
Teagan Sweet scored the lone goal for Storm as she fought hard at the net until she put the ball away. Faye Duffy had some great plays and did not give up on the ball despite the speed of the Spuraways. Olivia Tulk, Mary Wood and Coenn Sauer were strong with their powerhouse kicks feeding the ball to the forwards, but in the end the Spuraways got some lucky breaks in the second half sending Storm home for a nice long rest for the holidays.
Craig Angus, regional head coach of the Whitecaps FC Island Academy Centre in Nanaimo, invited the U10 Selects to an indoor tourney, the WFC Island Academy Centre seven versus seven invitational, last Sunday, Dec. 8.
