question of the week

I hope council will listen

The following letter was sent to Gibsons mayor and council and copied to Coast Reporter for publication.

Why is it that the pro George people are not listening and come out with statements like, “naysayers, stopping progress and saying we are always negative.”

None of these statements is accurate.

I want to keep the Landing with the village ambiance that it has at the moment. This is what attracts visitors to the Landing.

I don’t object to a hotel as long as it complies with the Town of Gibsons official community plan, the Harbour Plan and the zoning bylaws, none of which it does at the moment. If The George must be built, why not in Upper Gibsons where all the amenities exist and conflict will be resolved?

I hope my plea for sanity and order will be heard by mayor and council.

Jack Stein, Gibsons
