It’s all about size and scale

Editor:

I think a hotel/convention centre in Gibsons is a fine idea provided it suits the Town of Gibsons. The proposed 40-metre George is laughably and startlingly out of proportion with the town.

The tax perks that people are salivating about are more likely to spin off if it actually fits the site and doesn’t look like an awkward monolith.

Currently there are developments underway in Gibsons that were not met with any objections because they are well proportioned, good designs, fit the criteria of the official community plan and add to the character of the town.

Why not do the same with The George plan?  Refine it, scale it to the OCP, make it cutting edge in energy efficiency and design, and go for it.
