The 11th annual Children’s Winter Faire at Sun Haven Waldorf School in Roberts Creek is the community’s opportunity to kick off the holiday season and truly share in the Christmas spirit, with activities ranging from old-fashioned beeswax candle dipping to wreath making to visits to the magic cookie house.

This Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. come be part of the fun. Enjoy talented local musicians including a children’s choir performing for your listening pleasure.

Children will be able to explore the grounds and stop in to different workshops where they will create their own masterpieces to take home with them. It’s always a special moment watching as the little ones select a hand-crafted gnome and then build a beautiful garden home for it — a wonderful decorative piece for your home and a fun natural toy for your children. All of this helps capture the children’s imagination and leaves them feeling inspired and joyous as winter approaches.

Other things to watch for include: a children’s store, a delightful experience for our younger visitors; the yuletide café with a wonderful array of scrumptious homemade baking and beverages; and the elves workshop, where you can warm up by the outdoor fire and create wreaths for your home while your children work on a woodworking craft.

There will also be a Winter Market featuring beautiful handwork from our talented Sun Haven families as well as quality art supplies and other amazing talents from the wider community. These offerings change every year and there is always something for everyone.

The Gumboot Café is generously supplying their fantastic soups and the students will be baking fresh bread for everyone to enjoy.

There will also be a display of art work of Sun Haven students along with information about Waldorf education and its dedicated approach to helping raise creative and thoughtful children.

Sun Haven Waldorf School is located at Camp Douglas at Beach Ave and Margaret Road in Roberts Creek. See www.sunhaven.ca for more details.
