The other evening a telephone caller invited me to attend a BC Ferries presentation on Saturday, Nov 30, at Cedars Inn in Gibsons.
After a few minutes of yada, yada, I informed the caller that the last time I attended such an informational meeting, there were brochures and printed materials and huge displays on tables and around the room.
I don't like reading profit and loss statements, I'd rather be informed verbally. So I asked a young man standing at the front table a question. I don't recall exactly what it was back then, but it was not earth shattering as I am not that savvy with running a business.
The young man replied something like, "I don't work for BC Ferries - I was hired to put on the meeting."
So, BC Ferries office employees — who should know how to do PowerPoint presentations — did not. Instead management spent our dollars to hire an outside consulting firm.
I wonder how will BC Ferries boggle my mind on Nov 30th?
